After Anatolia Seljuk Empire lost the dominant on Anatolia region, some small autonomous states that are named beylic were existed. The head of those beylics were mostly former Seljuk soldiers. They declared their autonomous governance.
Ottoman Beylic was one of the border beylics. It was on the border of East Roman Empire. Thus Osman bey who was the founder of Ottoman Beylic had attacks on East Roman Empire territory. According to the general records, Ottoman beylic was established in 1299. Ottomans captured other beylics by marriages and wars. In following centuries, it became an empire.
