Unfortunately modern urbanisation is destroying ancient buildings and ancient anfistructure. We have many samples in the world. This article is about a church that is in the city centre of Yalova province.
It is located in a residental area. It is dated back to East Roman period. There used to be an ancient city centre named Helenopolis. It was constructed in the name of the mother of Emperor Constantine. This church was buit with a cross plan. It was used for various purposes in the time. It is registered as ancient building in 1960.
The best way to preserve the ancient structures is to plan our cities up to the historical heritage. Otherwise we lose our historical heritage.
