Gilindire Cave;A cave which keeps secrets on climate change

Turkish landscape has many surprises for the visitors. Caves are marvelous elements of this landscape. Mediterranean region of Turkey is very popular due to the number of the caves.

Gilindire cave is one of the special caves of the region. It is in the border of Mersin province. It is famous for stalactite formations. It is dated back to ice age. It is known that the cave is hiding secret information on climate change in ice age. Main gallery is divided into rooms and it was formed in horizantal axis. It is around 555 meters long. According to the archeaological findings, this cave has been known since the ancient times. It was used as bath and a source to cure some illness.
