Anatolian Peninsula where modern Turkish Republic settles was the home of the civilizations in the history. Hittite Empire was one of the empires that has significant remarks in the history. Thanks to their writing habit, we know that Hittites built magnificent cities including their capital Hattusas. Also, we found out that the first written peace agreement was made between Hittites and Ancient Egyptian Empire. Even today, we can see the replica of this agreement on the wall of UN building in New York, USA.
Earlier samples of agriculture and city engineering are on Anatolian Peninsula. Even thousand years ago, the habitants of Anatolia developed the agriculture and found out how to feed themselves and their animals. Also, we can add the domestication of the animals. Then they learned how to settle, and they established big sites such as Göbeklitepe and Çatalhöyük. It was thought that human being was very primitive in that period. Archeological proofs showed us the opposite of this theory. Southeastern Anatolia became a big land for archeology thanks to Göbeklitepe and Karahantepe discoveries. They are so ancient that the legendary Egyptian pyramids weren’t built in that period.
We can say that all historical groups and empires were taken stage on Anatolia. We can list them as Roman Empire, East Roman (Byzantine) Empire and Turkish Empires.
