During our independence war, Greece invaded West Anatolian region after WW1. İzmir was the mini capital of the region. Greek Army expanded its field through the Central Anatolia. West Anatolian region was invaded by Greece till September 1922.

Mustafa Kemal was the commander of national forces. He was supervising and planning the military operation in the middle of battlefield. Finally Turkish national forces won the war and entered İzmir on 9th September 1922. A day after, Commander Mustafa Kemal came to the city. The crowd was happy and excited. When he was about to enter government building, some people placed Greek flag under his feet in order to step on it. He surprised but he asked what they were doing. They told him that Greek troops had entered the government building by stepping on the Turkish flag. So, they told him to do the same thing. He refused it and told the crowd that a national flag was always a symbol of a nation. Thus, he told them to remove the flag.

Even Greeks were the enemy of Turkish forces, he refused to be disrespectful against a flag. He was a soldier and a wise stateman.

We are going back to 1923. Mustafa Kemal was one of the leaders that were very famous in that political stage. So everyone was trying to get him closely.

A child from USA, he was 10 years old, decided to send him a letter to state his emotions. He had sent a letter. He stated his admiring, and he asked for a signed photo from the leader of Turkish Republic. Mustafa Kemal (Ataturk) loved and admired the children that’s why he had gifted the opening day of Turkish assembly to the children (23.04.1923). He was very glad to get a letter from a child, and he responded this letter.

He replied that letter in that way briefly;

To Mr. Curtis LaFrance (the name of the child)

I would like to thank you for your interest and thoughts about Turkish nation. As you wish, I added my photo with this letter. My only advice to smart American children (thanks to you) is not to consider everything you hear about Turkish society true, try to examine those words in the light of science and deep learning. I wish you a successful and happy life for you.

This child wasn’t ordinary child, he was the member of French family that was famous for the freedom of USA. that’s why he knew what freedom was.

After the WW1, Ottoman State lost its independence. One of the most important reasons was that Ottoman State couldn’t be able to improve itself and got weakened in time. Because Ottoman Sultans didn’t want to act this way or it was very limited.

Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was different. He grew up in today’s Greece. Balkan region was under the nationalism movement and also European nations aimed to improve themselves. So, while they improve, we all (Turks) lost power and independency. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was a member of this generation, so he aimed to learn and to improve his country. He gained a vision – Powerful new Turkish state-. He was aware that he couldn’t do it only by military trophies. So, he directed to science and social facts. Education was the most important mode in order to improve a nation. Then science and nationalism – but not a racist way- became guide for this path. His goal was to raise Turkish nation to the level of civilizational world, maybe even higher than them. Turks was the most civilizational nation in the history so we should get it back.

Because of this reason, he prepared a development program for new Turkish State. Turkish society should be educated, the society should be civilized, Turkish society should question everything, they should rule themselves and democracy is the best way. We can list many things.

The culture of Turkish Republic developed with the Latin alphabet. Science is the most significant guide of the society. Not dictatorship, the democracy is the way to improve in civilized world. The appearance of Turkish society got better. Turkish Republic was one of the most important states in 30’s thanks to Turkish Revolution. Economy was on the top. Even 1 Turkish Lira was equal to 1 US dollar. Turkish Republic was one of the biggest export countries in 1930’s. Everything has changed after WW2.

Even tough, we have faced many disasters, we are here thanks to Ataturk and his Turkish revolution.

Our leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was a great historian. He knew that history tough us many lessons. The actors may change but the events don’t change.

When Turkish National Assembly declared Turkish Republic with the leadership of Mustafa Kemal, He was aware of that his mission hadn’t finished yet. Turkish Republic had a long path to go, and TR needed social and economic victories in addition to military victories. He addressed Turkish youth he declared his legacy to the future.

Mustafa Kemal Ataturk is a leader who believes in national values and democracy. He never wanted to be a dictator. He desired to make Turkiye as a democratic country. He believes in Turkish public. He said to future generations that there were dangers, there would be dangers and there will be dangers. he explained us how we can survive Turkish Republic. This can be done only by loving, protecting tour republic, and struggling for the freedom.

Leadership is very important in our world today. The leaders of the nations’ have to make policies in order to make the world a better place. To fulfill this mission, a leader has to show some great skills. They have to make right decisions so their nation and the world can have a healthy development. When the leadership is the title, there is only one man: Mustafa Kemal Atatürk

I will not talk about his life here, but we can talk about his features. Firstly, he loves freedom and also, he believes in respect to all nations and flags. He knows the right of all people and countries. He evaluates a situation with different angles so he can make the best decision. Although he is a soldier, he never thinks that war is the most necessary method (even the cold war) unless it is about defending the homeland. He believes in science and education. He thinks very well before making a statement. He avoids being disrespectful to different beliefs and nations. He is trying to understand every issue to make the right solution. He respects the ideas of the authorized and experienced people. Briefly he knows how to lead a nation very well.

He is the leader of Turkish Republic. He had Turkish Republic established by the right and necessary moves. Even while he was struggling with seven countries, he didn’t humiliate the enemies or their troops. He guessed the result of WWII correctly before the war happened. He left a guidance for the nations in order to be free and to have a great development.

Even Sir Winston Churchill stated that we could be the witness to face a genius maybe in thousands of years, this time a genius was leading Turks.
