We all start the history with Hittites Empire on this territory. Before Hittites, we don’t see a central ruling. There were city states and their joints. Ancient Greeks, Macedonian Empire and Persian Empire were some civilizations. We discover that all layers were made up over and over in time.
Roman Empire dominated the peninsula. Anatolia was the eastern border of Roman Empire. Turks came to peninsula after 1071 as a powerful entrance. But they were here as tribes or fortune soldiers. Then Roman Empire divided into two. Eastern Roman had survived till 1453 when Ottomans conquered the Constantinople.
Mesopotamian civilizations were the neighbours of South eastern region. First university of the world was established in the region. Tigris and Euphrates rivers are born in Anatolia and runs through Persian Sea. This is the region where the civilizations raised. There are many civilizations we couldn’t join here.

Around 2000 years ago, a place was here named Demre (Today it is in Antalya province). A priest was living here. He observed that some people needed help or mercy. He decided to take action in order to make them happy. On the other hand, he would do it secretly. That’s why he should have entered the houses from chimney. He did it gently. So, he became a legend in Christian world. Christmas tradition got rounded in the world. Eastern Roman Empire changed the date according to the records. Actually, 25 December was a Roman religious day. Roman authorities joined their religious day and Christmas.
That’s a brief story on Christmas. Anatolia and Demre were the starting points for Christmas.

It is located on the bank of Golden Horn. It belonged to Bulgarian society of the city. As they declared themselves as an independent country, they also decided to seperate from the Greek Orthodox unity. They didn’t seperate from Orthodox doctrine. They desired to build their own church.
This event became true in 19th century. The church was built from the wood. So it was burned. Then the society had the chuch built by the steel skeleton. It was a great technic for that age. The church was built in Vienna and the pieces were brought to Istanbul by ships. It was completed in 1898. It is still active and standing.

If we use this statement; the history of human being is rewritten in Southeastern Turkiye, it will be completely true. When Göbeklitepe ancient site was discovered, it was told that the history of human being had been rewritten. After this discovery, the works on the region proved that Göbeklitepe wasn’t only one. Şanlıurfa province of Turkiye has a great potential for this process.
Another ancient site, that is named Sefertepe, was discovered. It is thought that it remained from the same era with Göbeklitepe. Also the structure of the T-stones are alike. The excavation is going on. It is certain that we can provide great or unexpected results.
