
After the Republic was declared, Mustafa Kemal started to become his plans true. Economic development such as building an industry was having a priority for young Turkish Republic. The other issue that related to this target was to find the right option for the transportation. Railway was the best option for this target because it was cheaper and it was easier to access the elements. That’s why, new Turkish Republic planned to extend the railway routes in Türkiye. Thus, the government of Turkish Republic decided to invest on railways.
In the period of 1923 and 1930’s, Turkish Republic governments built new railways to reach all of the places of the country. This move had an economic result. The products could be able to be delivered to all Türkiye. Even the export was picked up, and treasure of the Turkish Republic began to make money. It caused the economic development.
After the WW2, this policy had almost ended. New highways were built and the number of cars were getting more. This move caused to have a dependency to oil.
