I am sure that everyone knows what a country is or what a land is. An ordinary person will describe them differently or a nationalist will describe them differently. It doesn’t matter where you are from. It matters how you evaluate them.

According to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (it is actually native Turkish principle), a land becomes a country when there is anybody to sacrifice themselves for the land. When the public is ready to defend where they live, they make their land a country. A country needs love and care. Everybody should love and care their country. The land is a piece of soil, but it becomes sacred when it becomes a country.

He believed that a leader should be a role model for a nation. While he was planning to develop Turkish nation, he was the pioneer of the Turkish Revolution. For example, he was the one who used the national products firstly while he was investing industry. He was offering his clothes from the national textile factories. He wore the hat while visiting Kastamonu. He taught Latin Turkish Letters to the public.

It is also valid for the family life model. Before the secular regulation, a man could marry four women according to Islamic application. The women had no rights and education. Most of them were ignorant, even they didn’t know how to write or read. They didn’t have any share in economic life. That’s why, they were like slaves except the role of mother. It was very easy to divorce woman for the man, but the woman couldn’t do it. The marriages were under the men domination. He wanted to change this fact. As he grew up in Balkan region of Europe, he met well-educated and free women in opposite of Anatolian women. He met a young well-educated woman (Miss Latife) in Izmir. She grew up in Europe, and she could speak English. She translated British and other foreign newspapers into Turkish for Mustafa Kemal. She also helped him to send messages to British fleet in Izmir. He was delighted with her assistance. He decided to marry her in order to be a role model for new Turkish public. His wedding ceremony was made in modern style. She was visible with Mustafa Kemal in social life. Her role was the modern Turkish woman. Turkish public was following their leader very carefully (we are still after him). Although this marriage didn’t last long due to her jealous attitudes, it was a good sample for the public.

It is obviously hard to know people. Because nothing is written on the forehead. Only small hints will give you an idea about this people. Turkish currency bill is the hint for Turkish public.

Atatürk means everything for Turkish Republic. Normally, he is everywhere in official papers such as the bill. The real lira is detected with a hidden picture of Atatürk. With this point, if you want to separate real Turkish patriots, look at the heart of Turkish citizens. When you see Atatürk in the heart, that’s real patriot.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk isn’t only a wise stateman or a soldier. He is also scientific character. From his younger ages, as he was very clever, he interested in math. While he was growing, he improved his knowledge on math and science. Even though he was fighting for the independency, he didn’t give up reading books.

After the Republic, he had a math book published. Especially on geometry, he had a great knowledge, so he prepared a guide for the students. He aimed that those students would be the scientists of the Turkish Republic.

After the Republic declared, Mustafa Kemal started to visit the schools without any notice. He never liked noticing his visit.

He was visiting a school, and he came across a history class. He wanted to ask a question to a student about the wars. The student began his words with; Due to the traditional friendship with France. Mustafa Kemal interrupted his sentence, and he asked who told it. The history teacher said that it was his word. But he realized his mistake. Mustafa Kemal asked him to tell the right one. He corrected his mistake: There isn’t any traditional relationship or friendship in the international area. The states become friend or make relationship if there is any common benefit. Mustafa Kemal confirmed this explanation.

Don’t think any country as friend or an enemy because the benefits and evaluations can be different. If the benefits and evaluations are common, there will be a common move. But when everything changes, the events will change. So, every country should know how to be strong and free on its own. Relying to another country for any subject will cause a weak point in freedom and it isn’t possible to be independent completely.

After the Republic was declared, Mustafa Kemal started to become his plans true. Economic development such as building an industry was having a priority for young Turkish Republic. The other issue that related to this target was to find the right option for the transportation. Railway was the best option for this target because it was cheaper and it was easier to access the elements. That’s why, new Turkish Republic planned to extend the railway routes in Türkiye. Thus, the government of Turkish Republic decided to invest on railways.

In the period of 1923 and 1930’s, Turkish Republic governments built new railways to reach all of the places of the country. This move had an economic result. The products could be able to be delivered to all Türkiye. Even the export was picked up, and treasure of the Turkish Republic began to make money. It caused the economic development.

After the WW2, this policy had almost ended. New highways were built and the number of cars were getting more. This move caused to have a dependency to oil.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk stated that working for the nation we belong has been the most honorable way. When our nation gets the success, the public will have the reward. Welfare of the nation is the main target. A happy nation is the main motivation for a real leader. When the public is after the leader, that leader is capable of achieving more targets.

It is obvious that the strong nation is able to stand against everything. Uniting for the real leader makes the nation more motivated for happiness. It is true that it can be achieved by working hard. It is normal that an individual will aim at meeting the necessities. When the purpose will exceed this fact, there can be a chaos in the public.

Do you know what the most valuable is to be great? This is knowledge. It is named as intelligence at present. A person who wants to be a leader has to do his/her homework very well. Firstly, this person should study history. Thus, this person can evaluate present time very well and this person is able to guess the future. Then the science lessons will start, this will make the person analytic person. The art such as music and theatre is also necessary. This will make the leader candidate open-minded. The person should know the public very well. So, this person can make proper decisions. This person always should be in touch with the public so this person can have ability to get true information. The most important feature is to have a good heart-that fills with love and respect- and great teammates.

In ancient ages, philosophy advised the kings or the dominant power that knowledge has been the most important power. The strongest person has been the one who has more knowledge on life. Ancient Greek philosophers have recorded this fact several times.

There is a fact at present, Economy. Economic development is based on every sort of information. It can be scientific, social or political. All can affect the economic development. The leaders know it very well.

The performance of a state depends on some power usages. Justice is one of the basis powers of a state. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is a leader that believes in justice. Because he knows that many states have survived for centuries thanks to justice in history.

He always stated that a state should work very well with all unites. The branches of a state are like gears of the state. Justice is one of them. The public needs justice for the order. So, they know what they can do or not. The rules of public are designed with a proper justice system.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is a wise officer, and he is an expert at war. He always states that the most dangerous frontier is the interior frontier. It is known what the exterior frontier can do so it is easy to take precautions. On the other hand, the interior frontier isn’t easy.

At present, we face a sort of a war type that contains the interior frontier mostly. Sometimes we don’t know who our enemy is or who our friend is. It is very important for a country. It is certain that a country needs brave and honest citizens. Working hard for a country is the most honorable way for a citizen. Benefits of the country is over everything. Personal benefits can harm the national benefits, so we have to be careful on it. Peace is the best way to express the feeling for the humanity. War is a murder, if it doesn’t aim the homeland defense. Aggressive approach for the international policy is very dangerous. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk acted politely to the presidents of other nations after our independency war. Although he fought them as soldier, he showed them political respect. He never humiliated the value of Turkish Republic. He acted up to the benefits of the Turkish Republic.
