There are some monumental castles in Turkey. Some of them are misunderstood such as Yoros Castle. It was thought that it was a Genoese Castle. But the recent archeological proofs show us that it was a Byzantine castle. It is located at the edge of Bosphorus in order to control the waterway of Bosphorus. The construction years isn’t absolute but according to the historical resources, there used to be a castle before the Genoese domination.
It was a strategically located castle. Its location is its outstanding feature.
