Water is the most valuable substance of the life in the earth. Water management has been one of the vital branches of society. It is especially important in hot territories such as South Eastern Turkey that is so hot that protecting water potential becomes a serious matter. That’s why, the old governors of the region had a solution in the past; to keep the water under the ground. Those water channels were built around 500 years ago.
Water is coming from Balıklıgöl (the lake with fishes) which is considered as holy place. It is believed that Balıklıgöl (the lake with fishes) is dated back to Prophet Ibrahim era. Also Şanlıurfa is known as ” the city of prophets”.
