Istanbul or Constantinople; it doesn’t matter. This city has the same value. There is a historical main street in the historical peninsula. It used to be a path to the great palace of Byzantines from the Theodosius square. The historical peninsula had holy places in Byzantion and Constantinople period such as Theodosius square and Great Palace. They were on the same route. This path used to be the main route.
After the conquest of the city by Turkish Ottoman Empire, the character of the city didn’t change, only the dominant belief system had changed. That’s why we can observe that Ottoman Sultan Mehmet the conquerer respected the city’s character. Ottoman Empire replaced its holy places in the same route. That’s why this path hadn’t changed. After the Topkapı Palace had been constructed, this path was used for royal cortege passing. That’s why it was named as Divanyolu (the path to the council ) .
