It is certainly known that Roman engineering is very impressive. A path monument of a Roman army is very important because it has a special meaning. It is located in border of Bartın province ( Western Black Sea region). This was a fountain indeed and it was planned to serve for water supply to Roman Armies in Small Asia. They could be able to stop here and supply water for them. It was built in the name of Roman Governor Gaius Julius Agullia between 41-54 AD. There were stairs to climb up the hill. The most outstanding feature is the statement on the monument ” In memory of peace and friendship among states, for the dignity of Emperor Cermanicus”. It is the wish of peace that we are longing for even today.
It is one of the worth seeing monuments of Romans in this landscape.
