Rumeli Castle was one of the key defensive points during the conquest of Constantinople. It was built in 1452. It has an interesting story.
Sultan Mehmet II had a target; to conquer Constantinople.Ottoman Empire and East Roman Empire had a peace agreement in that period. Mehmet II had a clue to prevent the support of Byzantine alliens. A priest (he is claimed to be a Muslim indeed) pointed a place to Ottomans to assist their plans. Sultan Mehmet II asked for a hunting party to Byzantine Emperor. Ottoman Sultan made a plan to build a castle but he had to make Emperor accept it. Firstly emperor accepted sultan’s cottage. He thought to make a fait accompli. He made a deal with Byzantine Emperor. He would make plan for a cottage with leather line and Emperor led Sultan build in that border.
Mehmet II made a plan to build a castle and he did it in a few months. When the castle project finished, Byzantine emperor protested this attempt. Mehmet II told him that he obeyed the agreement so there was no conflict.

Diyarbakir city wall is the fourth longest city wall in ranking. It has a glorious structuıre and it has 4 main gates.
A legend on seven brothers tower bastion is very famous. An enemy attacked on the city wall and the enemy managed to take over the control on the wall but a tower bastion. The enemy called the defenders to surround. It was being defended by seven brothers. Seven brothers decided to make a trick for the enemy.
Brothers sent a message to the enemy; We resign the bastion only to your king and commanders. Otherwise we will defend here. Their plan was to place explosive on the bastion. They did it. When the king and commanders came to bastion in order to take conrol, the brothers blew up the bastion. So all of them were dead including seven brothers.
That’s why it is called seven brothers’ tower bastion legend…

Pagan belief systems are known as the oldest belief systems of the world. Archeologists have unearthed many pagan temples or facilities on Anatolian landscape in recent years including Istanbul. Then the religions had existed. Pagans and Christians lived here together. But due to the pressure of Roman Empire for Paganism, early Christians built underground cities in Central Anatolia. They are so complex that maybe %10 or %20 of those structures were unearthed. The secrets on the life of this society are still under the soil and being expected to unearth. Christianty became an universal religion in this landscape. The councils of holy places in Small Asia shaped the Christianty. Constantinople became the capital and East Roman Empire addicted themselves to develop this religion. Even the churches of Orthodox and Vatican spread in Constantinople because of the election of a Pope.
Shamanism and other cultures created a cultural syntesis here. Even today we have many customs and beliefs that are originally from Shamanism. Some of the most developed ancient sites were built in Anatolia such as Ephesus. They were so developed that they can’t be realized very well even today. We can list as the aquedacts of Roman Empire and the infrastructure constructions in ancient site.

We can say that religions and the belief sytems developed here. For example, we can come across traces of ancient belief systems of the world in Turkey. Göbeklitepe, which is the oldest religious site of the world, was unearthed. Pagan belief system facilities were unearthed on Anatolia.Christianty became an universal religion in Anatolia. The first church was carved in a rock in Hatay. Virgin Mary came to Aegean side of Anatolia and settled here. Islam got an identity thanks to Turks. First ancient empires were established here such as Hittites and Phrygians. Basic of Mesopotamian culture was in Anatolia. Lydians inverted first economical system here.
The great leaders of history have visited this landscape such as Alexander the Great and Egyptian Queen Cleopatra. Do you know that Egyptian Queen Cleopatra came to Tarsus in order to meet her love?
Church, syngagoue and mosque can be existed together such as in Hatay. Racism and discrimination aren’t in agenda of this culture. We aim to create a happy and respectful life. Differences are treasures of the society.
