Arykanda ancient site is one of the important sites of Small Asia peninsula. It was constructed nearby the highest peak of Antalya mountains. So it is named as ” the site nearby the peak”.

It is known that Arykanda was one of the central sites of Lycian Union. Then Persian Empire came, Alexander the Great then Roman Empire dominated Arykanda.

It was an ancient site which was typically developed Hellenistic site. Developed infrastructure and facilities were unearthed in archeaological excavations. It was so developed that there was a sewage system. It had every sort of facilities such as theaters and great buildings.

The archeaological objects prove us that it was one of the central sites of Lycian Union.

There is a stone monument that is in an orange field in Mediterrannean region. Actually the function of this monument isn’t clear at present.

It is thought that it is 2700 years old. There are some stories about this monument. According to a story, it is a victory monument of Assyrian emperor against Greeks. According to another story,it was a point which a father of a bride came across his father -in-law. Ancient historian Strabon stated that there used to be a tablet on this monument and it was lost in the time.

Although it isn’t clear, it has a historical mystery. It is erected among the orange trees but there could be some historical area around the monument. We don’t have a certain information on it.
