When Virgin Mary came to Aegean region of Anatolia, she was running away from cruelty of Roman Empire. She settled on a peak of the mountain. There was no way to go to this peak. She isolated herself here. She dedicated her life only for praying God. It was close to Ephesus and seven sleepers cave. It locates in the border of Selçuk county of Izmir province. It is the place where Christians had the pilgrimage duty at present.
Not only Christians and also Muslims visit Virgin Mary settlement to pray. As Virgin Mary is also holy for Islam, Muslims erect candles and pray for God.
