Turkish landscape has a lot of archeaological treasures in its territory. Unfortunately some of them aren’t lucky. Due to the dams, some of them remained under the water. Augusta ancient site which is located in Adana province of Turkiye was one of the best known ancient sites due to the historical records.

This ancient site was unearthed in 1950’s and then Seyhan Dam construction started. So the archeaologists had a short time to save the ancient site. Finally the dam lake was filled thus the ancient site remained under the water. The remains of ancient site got out because of the drought. It was built by the Roman Emperor Tiberius. According to the historical records, the ancient site was recorded till 8th century AD.

According to the termology, tourism can mean everything. But probably it is equal to responsibility for the values of the country and the world. It is certain that values of the country and world are the most important elements of tourism.

Above the first paragraph, you can see some values of Turkiye. There are more but unfortunately I can’t place all of them here. The common feature is that all of them need protection by laws. In the recent years, we have some bad news’ about them. So they make the local people and Turkiye lovers upset. Also they damage the prestige of Turkiye in tourism field. It is the responsibility of all of us. Government, local managements, non-governmental societies and individual people have shares on this subject.

Protect Turkiye and develop the country…….

As we know that Mesopotamia was the cradle of civilization. Also Anatolian peninsula is one of the territories that ancient tribes were settled. The ancient sites that were unearthed are the solid evidences of this statement. For example South eastern Anatolia is one of the neighborhoods of Mesopotamia region. So the history of this region is very wealthy. The world recognised the region with Göbeklitepe site which was unearthed in Şanlıurfa province of Turkiye. It was one of the oldest temples in the world, even older than ancient Egyptian pyramids. After a while it was understood that Göbeklitepe isn’t only one in the region. There are more ancient sites to unearth in the region.

Then Gre Filla ancient site was unearthed in Diyarbakır province of Turkiye. It was understood that it is one of the oldest ancient sites of the region such as Göbeklitepe. During the archeaological excavations, thousands of archeaological pieces and signs of many civilizations were unearthed. So they proved that it is around 11.000 years old. Unfortunately it is under the danger of dam such as Hasankeyf.
