Western Anatolian region of Turkey hides many ancient sites. Since the history has been recorded, many ancient sites have been recorded. Some of them were unearthed and some of them are still under the ground. Some of them were discovered by chance. The natural landscape of the region may hide the ruins. Acharaka ancient site was one of the luckiest sites.According to the historical records, it was an important medical center in ancient era. It was a center for the patients and priests. Due to the natural landscape, we can come across many thermal water sources and caves. As the region was on the active earthquake line, many caves and cracks on the surface were formed. That’s why this region was considered as a medical center in ancient era.
It is located in the border of Denizli province at present. The history of the region hasn’t been written completely yet.

We can see many valuable members of Sephardic Jewish community in the history including the martyrs in our independence war.
It is important to state that every community in Anatolia has great contributions for multi-cultural structure of Anatolia.

As we all know that Anatolian peninsula is covered by three seas (Aegean, Black Sea and Mediterranean). So marine trade routes have great importance as others as, such as Silk Road. Some civilizations developed their trade fleet and dominated coasts of Anatolia. Some places were bases of navies.
We can find out that there was a trade chain starting from Aegean coasts to Greece. Once upon a time, there used to be port sites such as Ephesus. Actually Ephesus is located inland due to alluvion filling. Even today Aegean coasts are being filled by alluvions. We know that trade routes transported many items to Roman Empire and Greek civilizations.

Generally the trade sites were built in Southeastern region (nearby Mesopotamia) and Central region. The (central) region is known as Cappadocia at present. The local underground metarials were gathered in those sites and they were sold. By the guidance of official records (Cappadocian tablets) we find out valuable hints on the trade and life. Also economical activites had an important part in those sites.
Because of its location, Small Asia has always great importance for trade in history. Thus many civilizations struggled to dominate here. Assyrians were one of the states that dominated those routes and regions.

Menora is one of the sacred symbols of Jewish religion. It has been searched for centuries( even at present). It is guessed that menora was brought to Constantinople or it came here in anyway. Jerusalem was the homeland of menora but it got lost in some periods.
According to a theory, menora had been in Constantinople for centuries. After the Latin invasion in Constantinople, it got lost forever. Crusaders might have taken menora to Europe and they hid it. Despite of its absence, it is still the most important sacred item of Jewish religion.
Istanbul (Constantinople at the past) might have hosted some sacred items. The sacred items have holy values so they never lose their values.

Every religion has a different place in the history of Anatolia. Anatolia is known as a geography where various religious systems live together. That’s why Jewish community has an important effect on multi cultural sysytem of this geography.
We can come across earlier Jewish communities in ancient sites of Anatolia such as Sardes. As we know that there was a big synangoue in Sardes. Also we have hints in order to discover earlier Jewish communities in other sites. For example we know that there was a vast trade network in Ephesus. Jewish traders had a big share in this network. We can add more samples for this story.
Also we know that the history of Jewish community isn’t limited in ancient periods. Jewish community had faced a torture in Europe and finally they were fired. Turkish authority of Anatolia accepted and protected them. Ottoman Empire allowed them to deal with trade. Thus the community improved and extended here. They had many synangoues built in Anatolia. They were the part of the religion mosaic in Anatolia.
Jewish Community and Turkish society has been living in harmony for centuries. Even our customs got resembled more.

According to the scientific datas, the items were from Ottoman era. That means Ottoman navy was here.

Actually it had just discovered and we need time to find out everything on history. The first datas of the site are pointing us an important site. It is known as a capital of a historical state but the archeaological works will show us later. It proves us Cappadocia is more than we imagine.
